Anette Lidström: "Seeing is Perceiving: Serial Dependence, Information Integration and Truth"
Planning seminar with Anette Lidström.
As individuals, most of us rely daily on our visual system to guide us in an uncertain and dynamic world. Despite the overwhelming amount of information that our visual world contains, we usually manage to navigate through it without much trouble uncritically assuming that what we perceive accurately mirrors the truth about the current state of the world. Recent empirical literature does however beg to differ suggesting that current perceptions in certain contexts and situations are not necessarily “true”. In this seminar I will discuss how information from different sources can integrate over time and space and bias perceptions of the present moment.
