Freestanding courses

Create your own degree programme or develop your expertise!

At Lund University, you have a unique opportunity to study psychology on the basis of your own interests and needs. You can choose to specialise in your particular area of interest immediately, or start from the basics with a general course in psychology and then study all the way to a psychology degree.

The Department of Psychology offers a large number of freestanding courses, including:

  • social psychology
  • work and organisational psychology
  • forensic psychology
  • psychology of conversation and interviewing
  • cognitive and neuropsychology
  • Bachelor’s degree project in psychology of 30 or 15 credits.

Courses offered on a part-time and full-time study basis.

The area courses (30 credits) are clearly based within the department’s research divisions whereas the thematic courses (15 credits) are more specialised in a particular professional field. The range offers great opportunities for creativity in combining courses, which can increase your competitive edge on the labour market and within research.

The majority of our freestanding courses are taught in Swedish, but we also offer a limited range of courses in English. Currently, it is possible to study the following courses in English:

  • Cognitive and Neuropsychology (30 credits)
  • Consciousness, Altered States of Consciousness and Parapsychology (15 credits).

Freestanding courses are offered in the first cycle and can lead to a Bachelor’s degree. With a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, you meet the requirements to study psychology in the second cycle towards a one- or two-year Master’s degree. The courses can also independently constitute a valuable complement to studies within other disciplines such as economics, law, medicine, humanities or other behavioural sciences.
