Credits
The Swedish university credits are based on the new system ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System). For more information about the system see:
The European Commission website (New window)
The PhD programme leads to a PhD degree corresponding to 240 credits, or a licentiate degree with 120 credits.
The programme is composed of course work (90 credits) and research work leading to a thesis.
To be eligible for the PhD programme applicants must have a degree at the advanced level, or at least 240 credits of which 60 must be at the advanced level (this corresponds to 160 and 40 credits, respectively, according to the older credit system).
