There is a number of ways to study psychology at Lund university. Nearly 1 450 students attend courses at the Department of Psychology, with courses ranging from introductory to PhD level. Many of the Courses are held in English.

A set of single subject courses are offered in general psychology, cognitive psychology, personality and work and organisational psychology. Studies within each of these subspecialities can be pursued at both intermediate and advanced levels. However, the language of instruction is Swedish.

The Master of Science programme in Psychology provides specialisation and breadth in the field of psychology. The aim of the programme is to provide you with a Master's degree firmly based in current research and offering broad career opportunities. Within the programme, you have the possibility of selecting courses specialising in different fields of Psychology. Note that the programme is not leading to a licence as a clinical psychologist.

This is a 5-year programme which combined with a 1-year internship leads to a master's degree in psychology and to licensing as a professional psychologist. Both the faculty staff and associated practitioners are involved in professional training. Psychotherapeutic skills are gained through work in the department clinic. Note that the language of instruction is Swedish.

About 50 students are registered in a 4-year graduate programme. The students carry on work in their specialities within one or more of the six divisions. Some 20 PhD students have a paid doctoral position at the Department of Psychology.

If you want to be a professional psychotherapist

This 3-year part time Psychotherapy Training Programme leads to licensing as a professional psychotherapist. Students recieve supervision and participate in a programme of lectures, seminars and case conferences covering major theoretical and clinical aspects of psychotherapy. Courses in English are not available within the Psychotherapy Training Programme at the present time.
