Rachel Maddux
Rachel Maddux is an international member of the Department, originally from the United States. Prior to earning her doctorate in Psychology, she worked in psychopharmacology research at the University of California, San Diego and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Her doctoral work at Lund concentrated on depression and personality. It was presented at various international conferences and won scientific recognition from the Evy and Gunnar Sandberg Foundation.
Her current research continues to focus on clinical depression, with a special emphasis on its etiology and treatment outcome. Because of the heterogeneous nature of depression, her work aims to deconstruct depression into more specific etiologically-based subtypes which can then be empirically tested in treatment studies to determine which interventions are right for which individuals.
Rachel currently teaches in the psychologist-training program and the single-subject courses on topics including depression (etiology, treatment, case studies), neuropsychological aspects of anxiety and depression, emotion, research methodology, and positive psychology and psychotherapy.
