PhD in Education; MSc in Psychology
Competence: Critical thinking; Creative thinking; PhD education; Theory of Science, Qualitative Methods
In 2007 I defended my doctoral thesis titled “Critical Thinking in Scholarship: Meanings, Conditions and Development” at Lund University.
Since then I have devoted myself to the field of scholarly thinking with focus on critical, creative and independent thinking in doctoral education. Due to my background with certain interest in educational philosophy, I integrate philosophical, psychological and educational perspectives in my research.
Recently, my article entitled “Conceptualizing and Encouraging Critical Creativity in Doctoral Education” published in International Journal for Researcher Development was chosen as a Highly Commended Award Winner at the Literati Network Awards for Excellence 2012.
Ongoing research:
Critical, creative and independent thinking in interdisciplinary graduate schools
Earlier research projects:
Critical and creative thinking in PhD education (post doc at Linnaeus University in 2009-2011)
Mentorship in PhD education (financed by Learning Lund in 2008-2009)
I have experience of teaching adults at all levels, ranging from individuals with acquired brain damage at Furuboda Folk High School to university students and teachers in higher education.
During 2011-2012 I worked as an educational developer at the Centre for Educational Development at Lund University, where I was responsible for
(1) a one-year interdisciplinary doctoral student programme called Voice which aimed at supporting PhD students in developing their doctorateness, and
(2) composing seminars on certain issues in PhD education especially held for research supervisors and teachers at graduate level. Today I am a lecturer in Theory of Science and Qualitative methods at the Department of Psychology since 2009.
I am the network coordinator for FonSyd. FonSyd started in 2008 and constitutes a network for PhD Education in Southern Sweden. In cooperation with Lund University and FonSyd, I arranged a national conference on equality in doctoral education which was held in Lund 7-8 May 2012.
